Intensive Outpatient Program
Intensive Outpatient Program for Addiction Recovery
We at Maryland Behavioral Health recognize that recovery is a process that demands support, structure, and flexibility. Our (IOP) is carefully crafted for adults with addictions who require intensive treatment but must remain involved to meet work, family, and personal obligations.
Our adult intensive outpatient program provides a closely supervised treatment setting where our clients are able to acquire useful recovery skills and receive expert guidance without having to make changes in their daily lives outside of treatment.
What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a step-down level of care designed for individuals who no longer need 24/7 supervision but still benefit from consistent, structured clinical support. It offers a balanced approach that is less restrictive than inpatient hospitalization while providing more support than traditional weekly outpatient therapy.
Ideal for individuals transitioning from inpatient or partial hospitalization programs, our IOP addresses substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through comprehensive, evidence-based care. Treatment typically takes place several days per week and includes a combination of individual therapy, group counseling, and ongoing clinical oversight. Flexible scheduling with daytime and evening sessions allows participants to continue work, school, or family responsibilities while remaining actively engaged in their recovery journey.
